Eating Disorder Special Interest Group
Mission and goals
The mission of the Eating Disorder SIG is to promote the use of evidence-based treatment for a range of pediatric eating disorders and to promote professional collaboration to improve eating disorder care in the outpatient and inpatient setting. The goals are:
- To promote the use of evidence-based assessment and treatment for a range of pediatric eating disorders (e.g., Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder, Binge Eating Disorder) in the outpatient and inpatient setting
- To increase collaboration among pediatric psychologists and trainees who provide clinical care to pediatric patients with eating disorders or disordered eating.
- To create and disseminate a library of resources related to eating disorder advocacy, programming, and treatment
- To compile and share a list of pediatric eating disorder treatment facilities around the nation
- To facilitate discussion and dissemination of resources related to models of care and program development
- To offer a network for members to consult via the listserv or to establish small groups (4-5 members) to promote case discussion, continuing education, and improvement in clinical skills related to pediatric eating disorders
- To promote research collaborations across sites and to potentially build a clinical research database across multiple sites
- To promote training and mentoring opportunities related to pediatric eating disorders
