News from the American Board of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology

The American Board of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology (ABCCAP) reports membership growth and seeks new examiners.

By Lynne M. Covitz

ABCCAP membership continues to grow at a very healthy pace in 2015. Our membership consists of both clinical child and pediatric psychologists. To date, our most recently board certified professionals include:

  •     Jennifer Hansen
  •     Rebecca Lieb
  •     Deirdre Logan
  •     Jessica Luzier
  •     Robyn Mehlenbeck
  •     Kelly Schloredt
  •     Eric Schwartz
  •     Karen Stiles
  •     Anne Walters
  •     Wendy Ward
  •     Christopher Watson

Because we have had such steady growth in our membership, one of our goals is to increase our pool of examiners. A larger pool of examiners will help us continue to develop exam pods throughout the country and will increase the number of sites at which exams can occur, thus reducing travel for candidates. In addition to individual mentoring of new examiners by committee chairs, we conducted ABCCAP examiner training workshops in April 2015 in San Diego, California, at the Society for Pediatric Psychology conference (as a preconvention workshop) and again in Columbus, Ohio, in May 2015. Future workshops will be scheduled. We encourage all those with current ABCCAP certification who are interested in becoming examiners to attend one of our examiner training workshops.

For folks who are interested in pursuing ABCCAP board certification, please visit the ABCCAP website. There you will find our ABCCAP exam manual, which provides details of the process of board certification. For those already board certified through ABCCAP, we will be emailing the membership shortly to recruit for an open seat on our ABCCAP Board of Directors, so please consider serving.
