Psychologists in Graduate Medical Education Special Interest Group
Mission and Goals
The Psychologists in Graduate Medical Education Special Interest Group (SIG) is dedicated to fostering a collaborative community of pediatric psychologists, physicians, and allied health professionals across all stages of training and career. Our mission is to advance and integrate behavioral health training within Academic Medical Centers through resource development and dissemination, educational innovation, evaluation material development, and interprofessional collaboration. We aim to strengthen the role of psychologists in graduate medical education by contributing to curriculum development, promoting evidence-based teaching practices, and enhancing communication skills training for medical learners. Through national, regional, and local initiatives—including webinars, trainings, and cross-SIG partnerships—we strive to support the integration of behavioral health training for medical learners to advance academic medicine, improve clinical education, and elevate the standard of multidisciplinary patient care.
