Description

A total of $30,000 in grant monies are available for projects focused broadly on pediatric psychology and anti-racism. These projects may be focused on service, clinical activities, activism, training or research. Proposals may request between $500 - $30,000 to support a one-year project. The variety of projects that can be submitted is broad and can range from an in-service training to a formal research project. This is an innovative mechanism – we want projects that think outside the box and lead to sustainable change within the field. The goal is to fund projects that intersect pediatric psychology and anti-racism.

Projects can address ethnicity, race, age, disability, religion/spirituality, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, national origin, language, and gender. Grant writers are encouraged to consider intersecting identities in the creation of proposals.

Eligibility and Expectations

All SPP members and student members are eligible to apply.
Those from underrepresented groups (including but not limited to race/ethnicity, first generation scholars, gender, sexual orientation, country of origin, language, disability, indigenous heritage, or religion) and those not previously receiving funding are highly encouraged to apply.
All student led projects must have a faculty mentor.
Recipients will be expected to present their projects at the 2024 Society of Pediatric Psychology Annual Conference (SPPAC) and contribute a brief feature to the SPP newsletter, Progress Notes.

How to Apply

To apply, please submit all documents below as one pdf to cmlow@cmh.edu with email subject line “2023 SPP Anti-Racism Grant Application (author last name)”:

A two-page proposal of your project which should include:
1. An overview of the project
2. How it fits within the intersection of pediatric psychology and anti-racism
3. A paragraph as to why you (and your team) are qualified to lead this project
4. How the project will be conducted considering any restraints imposed by COVID-19
5. How this project will impact the Society of Pediatric Psychology
A timeline with benchmarks indicating completion within one year
1. Please note that funds cannot be used as a donation to an organization or for travel.
A detailed budget with justification
A biosketch, resume or CV of the project lead (and mentor if a student is project lead)

Applications are due by 5/25/23 with award notifications being sent by 6/25/23 at the latest.
