Description

This award honors a pediatric psychologist who promotes understanding and respect for diversity in practice, training, policy, and research  within the field of pediatric psychology. Diversity-related activities (e.g., policy creation, educational presentations/ medical training, leading diversity efforts within institutions and nationally, institutional advocacy, program development) may focus on issues such as race/ethnicity, gender, culture, disability status, sexual orientation, language differences, socioeconomic status, health equity, health disparities, religion, and/or other characteristics of systematically marginalized and oppressed populations . This work could also focus on health disparities in children's health care, which could include attention to differences in access to services and mortality rates. Contributions that have addressed the conceptual and/or methodological barriers of working in diverse areas of research, policy, and practice would also be relevant.

The recipient may be invited to present at SPP's annual conference.
