Student Spotlight: Ansley Kenney

Ansley Kenney is a fifth-year clinical psychology doctoral candidate at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and is mentored by Dr. W. Hobart Davies. Prior to graduate school, Ansley was a post-baccalaureate research coordinator at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, where she was supervised by Dr. Cynthia Gerhardt. As a research coordinator, Ansley was actively involved in multiple multi-site examinations into the socio-emotional functioning of youth with cancers and their families. As a graduate student, Ansley has continued to build a strong foundation for an impactful career in pediatric oncology and palliative medicine. She continues to balance involvement in research projects at UWM while staying connected to pediatric oncology research at Nationwide. Her research projects take on complex topics that embrace the systemic challenges of providing service in pediatric oncology and palliative medicine populations and the multidisciplinary nature of collaborative work. Ansley was recently awarded the UWM Distinguished Dissertator Fellowship, which will allow her to focus her time on her dissertation, which focuses on perceptions of the value of palliative care in the bone marrow transplant program. In addition to her research pursuits, Ansley is actively involved in the Society of Pediatric Psychology, including serving as the student/trainee representative within the Hematology-Oncology BMT Special Interest Group.
