Journal of Pediatric Psychology – Highlights

Grayson N. Holmbeck, PhD

As you may be aware, Dr. Tonya Palermo will be processing new submissions to the Journal of Pediatric Psychology beginning in January, 2017. I am delighted that Tonya will be the new Editor; the journal will be in very good hands!

We have a Call for Papers with a deadline of March 1, 2017: “Prevention in Pediatric Pain” (guest edited by Tonya Palermo, PhD & Amy Lewandowski Holley, PhD). See Call in issues 4, 5, or 6.

We have several special issues and special sections in progress (the deadlines have already passed): (1) “Unintentional Pediatric Injury” (guest edited by Barbara Morrongiello, PhD & David Schwebel, PhD), (2) “Adolescent and Young Adult Health” (guest edited by Katie Devine, PhD, Maureen Monaghan, PhD, & Lisa Schwartz, PhD),  (3) “Disorders of Sex Development” (guest edited by David Sandburg, PhD, Nina Callens, PhD, & Vickie Pasterski, PhD),  and (4) “Family Processes and Outcomes” (guest edited by Cynthia Gerhardt, PhD, Cynthia Berg, PhD, Deborah Wiebe, PhD, & Grayson Holmbeck, PhD).

In issue #10 (2016), we will have 3 Society of Pediatric Psychology award papers, 1 pioneer paper, and a special section on “Psychology in Pediatric Primary Care” (guest edited by John Lavigne, PhD).

Just a reminder that we published a paper in June (#5) on “Writing and Evaluating Qualitative Research Reports.” I highly recommend that any authors who are planning to submit a paper that is based on qualitative methods or reviewers who are asked to review qualitatively-oriented papers consult this useful journal article.

As always, I want to thank the Associate Editors for their remarkable work (Dean Beebe, John Lavigne, Tonya Palermo, Lori Stark, Ric Steele, and Tim Wysocki) and Susan Wood for her excellent work as the editorial assistant for the journal.
