Information on Institute on Medicine workshops.

The Society of Pediatric Psychology is a sponsor of an Institute of Medicine (IOM) Forum on Promoting Children’s Cognitive, Affective and Behavioral Health (C-CAB). This is a three-year project that includes public workshops and commissioned papers, with the goal of enhancing the implementation of evidence-based practices with children across settings (including primary care). I represent Div. 54 and Div. 37 (as joint sponsors) on this forum.

Three workshops have been held to date. See agendas for these workshops and videos of the keynote presentations. You will also find the reports for the first two workshops on this site, as well as a discussion paper complementing the first workshop summary, entitled “ Unique Opportunities and Challenges in Implementing Family Focused Interventions for Children with Developmental Disorders.”

The next forum workshop will be held April 1-2, 2015, and should be of interest to SPP members. The workshop will focus on sustaining funding for programs and services, which promote C-CAB, including, but not limited to, the Affordable Care Act. We expect to have panels of experts, including funders, policymakers, and scholars/practitioners, address cutting edge questions. I am chairing this planning group and workshop and will alert SPP members through the listserv when the agenda and other details become available. If at any time members have questions or suggestions, please feel free to contact me.
