Call for Nominations: Editor-elect of Clinical Practice in Pediatric Psychology
Due: May 1, 2021
The Society of Pediatric Psychology (SPP), Division 54 of the American Psychological Association, is seeking nominations, including self-nominations, for the next Editor of the Clinical Practice in Pediatric Psychology (CPPP) journal. Nominees for Clinical Practice in Pediatric Psychology should have stature in the field of pediatric psychology as determined by scholarly products and national recognition for clinical contributions, a broad scientific and clinical knowledge base, previous review and editorial experience, organizational skills and support for taking on the editorial responsibility. The editor receives an honorarium, and the editorial office will be maintained by APA Publications so there will be no cost to the Editor or institution for this position. The Editor will appoint Associate Editors and editorial board to assist in the peer review process of all manuscripts submitted to the journal. The Editor is an ex-officio member of the SPP Board of Directors and attends its monthly board meetings. The Editor-elect will begin receiving new manuscripts on January 1, 2022 and will serve a five-year term as Editor 2023-2027.
All application materials must be received by May 1, 2021. The Journal Editor Selection Committee Chair is Dr. Jennifer Shroff Pendley. Applicants should submit a letter of application indicating a willingness to serve if selected and a vision statement about the future of Clinical Practice in Pediatric Psychology and their curriculum vitae. The application also must include two letters of reference. One letter should address the applicant's clinical activities, scholarship, and organizational and people management skills. The second should come from the candidate's section chief, department chair, or similar administrative director, indicating support for the candidate’s time and effort devoted to this editorial role. Candidates must be current members of SPP. The committee will make a recommendation to the SPP Board of Directors who will appoint the next editor.

Nominees should have stature in the field of pediatric psychology as determined by publications and national visibility, a broad knowledge base and scientific activity in the field, previous editorial experience, organizational skills, and organizational support for taking on the editorial responsibility. The editor receives an honorarium and financial support for an editorial office. The Editor is an ex-officio member of the SPP Board of Directors and attends its monthly meetings. The Editor-elect will begin receiving new manuscripts on January 1, 2022 and will serve a five-year term as Editor 2023-2027.

Call for Committee Volunteers
The Society of Pediatric Psychology (SPP) is looking for members interested in serving on a committee. Learn more about the committees that need additional volunteers below. If you’re interested in nominating yourself or another member, we encourage you to fill out a short survey.
Committee Descriptions:
SPPAC 2022 Scientific Program Committee: Members of the SPC will be tasked with shaping the program for SPPAC 2022, including selecting plenary speakers and reviewing proposals for symposia, workshop, and poster sessions. This is a 1-year commitment. Self-nominations and nominations from others are welcome.
Membership Committee: Members of the committee will serve a 3-year term (2021-December 2023) and work with the MAL-Membership to conduct initiatives relating to growing membership in SPP and/or improving the experience of members. Past initiatives include member surveys regarding membership benefits and potential new initiatives, selecting the “freebie” to be given out at SPPAC conferences, and SPP fundraisers. Time commitment generally includes quarterly meetings and some work in between meetings.
Committee on Science and Practice: The main charge of the committee is to identify and to promote awareness of the scientific basis of pediatric psychology treatments, interventions, and assessments, with the goal of enhancing clinical science, training, practice, and public health in the field of pediatric psychology. Ongoing initiative include curating a webinar series focused on diversity, clinical science, and ethics.
Communications Committee: The Communications Committee supports the priorities of the Division, with the Electronics Communication Editor as chair. Members meet between 4 and 6 times per year to determine the strategy for various Division channels, including social media, websites, and email. The Communications Committee also suggests new channels based on need, advances in technology, and/or societal changes. Communications strategies align to the Division’s strategic plan and pillars, ensuring consistency throughout our approach.
Committee on Psychosocial Aspects of Child and Family Health (COPACFH) (1 position; 6-year term): This AAP Liaison Member represents the pediatric psychology clinical and scientific perspective in AAP initiatives. Duties include representing SPP as it relates to the AAP initiatives, reviewing policy statements and clinical and technical reports authored by the committee or by other AAP committees, and attending related meetings (most expenses are reimbursed by SPP and provided by AAP). Those who are interested in serving as Liaisons should be in their mid- to late-career, have had experience on the Editorial Boards of at least one the APA Journals, and a history of involvement in APA committees.
