Journal Update

Updates from the Journal of Pediatric Psychology

Editor-in-Chief, Tonya Palermo, PhD

July 2021

Happy summer! The journal has been busy over this first half of the year. In addition to the routine business of handling manuscript submissions, the JPP team has been working on several special projects and initiatives.

Anti-racist Workgroup

A workgroup was formed from members of the JPP editorial team to develop an agenda for diversity, equity, and inclusion at JPP. The first project of the workgroup – to develop author and reviewer instructions for the reporting of race and ethnicity in papers submitted to JPP – was recently completed. An editorial will appear in the August issue. Please see new author instructions for Reporting and Interpreting Data related to Race and Ethnicity, including use of Bias-Free Language.

Pilot/Feasibility Intervention Studies

The July issue of the journal features an editorial (Hilliard, Modi, & Palermo, 2021) on improving the quality of pilot/feasibility trials reporting in JPP. There are also new author instructions requiring use of the CONSORT extension on pilot and feasibility studies as the main reference document for reporting on all randomized and non-randomized pilot/feasibility studies submitted to JPP.

Congratulations to Avani Modi, Editor-elect of JPP!

The Society of Pediatric Psychology recently announced the selection of the next editor of JPP. We are excited to have Dr. Avani Modi take over next year as Editor-in-Chief in 2022.

Announcing the 2020 Impact factor

We are pleased to report that JPP’s 2020 impact factor increased to 3.191. Check out this collection of highly cited papers contributing to the increase.
